Wine To Water (WlW) is an international organization providing clean water through water access, filtration and WASH education. We are looking for a Program Manager to run the regional office in Arusha and represent Wine To Water in East Africa. This is a 6 month contract position and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: programs, operations, finances, and partnerships.  W|W is looking for an individual with non-profit management experience living in Arusha (or willing to move there) and the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people at our Ceramic Filter Factory and W|W E. JOB SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Program Manager (​PM) ​ is to run the regional office and represent Wine To Water (W|W) in East Africa. This primarily includes but is not limited to programs, operations, finances, and partnerships. Furthermore, the ​PM​ is responsible for clearly articulating and disseminating W|W mission, developing his/her team professionally, and cultivating a culture that exhibits W|W’s core values.  Additionally, as a member of the International Programs Team, the ​PM​ should constantly seek to grow and improve W|W’s impact around the world.

 

INTERDEPENDENCE & LEADERSHIP

The East Africa Program Manager will be most successful if they focus on building sustainable relationships with the existing W|W EA team and external stakeholders in the region. They will help improve systems and operational efficiency at the ceramic water filter factory in Arusha, Tanzania and help to grow and align our developing  water access and Water4Schools programs in the surrounding region. They will maintain consistent communication with W|W HQ and ensure the W|W EA team is making progress toward programmatic goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

IMPACT ● Lead with the intent to develop and grow initiatives that: ○ Align with W|W’s mission and purpose to support life and dignity of all through the power of clean water. ○ Are financially and operationally sound. ○ Add value to W|W’s impact storytelling. ● Responsible for the development and management of annual goals and budget in accordance with W|W’s strategic direction.  ● Oversee data and analytics systems to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for program impact and financial efficiency are clearly understood and actionable.  ● Responsible for developing new initiatives that add value to W|W’s relationships with key Africa and international donors and partners. ● Develop and support W|W E Africa program expansion into the region.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MANAGE ● Maintain detailed understanding of country activity, progress, and challenges. Provide summaries and recommendations to the International Headquarters team as needed.  ● Oversee and manage in country staff and day to day operations.  ● Support W|W Arusha Factory Founder and Head Ceramicist to ensure proper development and success of filter and hand washing station sales  ● Identify and implement proactive professional development programs that improve individual performance and teamwork.  ● Responsible for managing the country budget including reviewing and presenting quarterly progress. ● Oversee and assist in the development and execution of community-based water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs ● Establish and manage integrative approaches for leveraging social programs (ie community WASH projects, marketing and sales strategies) to improve and increase local filter sales.  ○ This includes: ■ Customer relationship management ■ Sales and delivery logistics ■ Development of regional sales partners (individual sales team and wholesale accounts) ■ Recruiting, hiring, and training of key personnel ■ Cultivation of WASH partnerships ● Communicate internally and externally with local team and IHQ.

 

 

EXTERNAL ● Regularly engage with government agencies and policy makers to ensure initiatives are being implemented in accordance with country and international guidelines (ie Sustainable Development Goals).  ● Engender trust with donors, global advocates, and impact partners by communicating W|W’s mission in a way that is compelling and inviting.  ● Participate in IP Strategy meetings to maintain broad understanding of W|W’s work around the world. To this end, seek ways to support fellow country directors, share best practices, and increase the cross-pollination of ideas.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Experience managing and developing international non-profit teams  ● Effective communicator who is flexible and thrives in non-routine and complex environment ● Comfortable with frequent and non-routine travel in complex environments ● Enjoys relationship building and employs project management mind set ● Comfortable performing self-directed work ● Positive Attitude, ​Strategic Thinker, Effective Communicator ● Excellent writing, editing, presentation​ skills ● Proficient in Google Drive & Microsoft Suit​e ● Familiarity and or experience with East African culture and languages is a plus
